06 Jul OAPA Elects Lake Erie College’s Michell McDiffett as President-Elect
Lake Erie College’s Physician Assistant (PA) Program Research and Outcomes Coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor, Michell McDiffett was recently named President-Elect of the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants (OAPA) beginning July 2020. She will resume the role of President of the organization in July 2021.
McDiffett has been a member of the OAPA since 2010 when she started her PA education. During her membership, she volunteered for various committees with the organization and has been an official Board member as the Region 1 Director since 2018.
“My involvement in OAPA has shed light on many of the challenges that PA’s are faced with in clinical practice. I have come to know some incredibly motivated and passionate PAs who care deeply for, not just patients, but for our profession. The patients of Ohio rely heavily on our profession to expand access to care in areas that are otherwise underserved, and the modernization of PA practice in Ohio is critical to achieve this,” says McDiffett.
“Michell brings passion and dedication to our PA profession. We are very lucky she is part of our PA program at Lake Erie College. We know she will make an excellent president for the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants,” commented PA Program Director and Clinical Associate Professor, Sean Kramer MSHS, PA-C.
According to McDiffett, she is honored to be the next President-Elect of the OAPA is looking forward to continuing the work of her predecessors in improving awareness of this amazing profession, providing opportunities for professional and personal development for all PAs in Ohio, and working to continue to increase access to care for the patients in our communities.
McDiffett has been with Lake Erie College’s PA program as a full-time clinical professor since January 2020. Previously, she was adjunct during the Fall 2019 semester. She resides in Chardon, and because she is originally from Painsville, she holds a strong sense of pride and commitment to the College’s community.
