25 Sep Observatory at OWU to offer Free Virtual Visits in October
You’re invited to join Ohio Wesleyan University’s Perkins Observatory in October for a free online New Vistas in Astronomy lecture and free virtual skywatches or planetarium talks each Friday.
At 8 p.m. Oct. 8, Scott Gaudi, Ph.D., of The Ohio State University’s Department of Astronomy will discuss “The Habitable Exoplanet Observatory.” At OSU, Gaudi is the Thomas Jefferson Professor for Discovery and Space Exploration. His research focuses on the search for extrasolar planets, as well as topics in gravitational lensing.
Gaudi’s free presentation is part of Perkins Observatory’s New Vistas in Astronomy adult lecture series.
Also during the month, Don Stevens, observatory director, will host free Friday guest nights consisting of virtual telescope observing or planetarium talks. The events will be held at 8 p.m. Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.
All events will be limited to the first 100 participants who join. The Zoom links for the events will be posted under the “Upcoming Events” section of the Perkins Observatory webpage at www.owu.edu/perkins.
