Wilmington College senior Mark Jarvis and one of his professors traveled to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis this weekend as special guest attendees of the NFL Combine.

Nick Wiget, instructor of communication arts, used his influence and contacts in the sports industry for Jarvis to have the opportunity to experience one of the NFL’s most exclusive events, in which hundreds of prospective college athletes display their athleticism for team scouts, coaches and upper management.

The experience dovetailed well with Jarvis’ work as a college draft analyst. He is the owner and operator of a website, WhatsOnDraftNFL.com, providing in-depth coverage of college football athletes and specializing in each player’s prospects of being drafted into the NFL. Jarvis created the site in 2016.

“Having the opportunity to attend the NFL Combine for my first time allowed me to see first-hand some of the athletes that I’ve covered on the site,” said Jarvis, a communication arts major from Hamilton. “It’s not every day that your interests align so well with that of one of your teachers, so I appreciated that Nick shared his access. It really exemplifies how hands-on our learning experiences can be.”

Jarvis, who also was invited as a special guest to this year’s Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., plans to continue his work on his site upon graduating from the College, including making the NFL Combine an annual experience.
