Exercise Science Program at Mount Union Nationally Recognized

University of Mount Union’s exercise science program was recently approved and recognized through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Education Recognition Program (ERP), for a period of three years.

Exercise Science Program at Mount Union Nationally RecognizedThe ERP recognizes and distinguishes schools with standardized, approved strength and conditioning or personal training curricula in undergraduate settings designed to prepare students for the NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®) and NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) certifications.

“This recognition of our program by the NSCA continues to build upon the solid foundation of the exercise science major and our new strength and conditioning concentration,” said Dr. Ron Mendel, professor and chair of the Department of Exercise, Sport and Nutrition Sciences. “We have a significant number of alumni making a significant impact as collegiate strength and conditioning coaches across the country. Our partnership with the NSCA will help us better prepare our students as strength and conditioning professionals.”

In addition to recognizing the University’s exercise science program for its outstanding curricula and commitment to the strength and conditioning profession, NSCA offers ERP institutions benefits, including but not limited to conference and exam preparation discounts and access to internship, grant and scholarship opportunities.

“By pursuing and achieving NSCA recognition through the ERP, Mount Union’s exercise science program has demonstrated that it meets the requirements to prepare students for the NSCA-CPT and CSCS certifications and is committed to quality,” said Linda Aaberg of NSCA.
