20 Aug Teach Access Partners with University of Mount Union
The University of Mount Union has announced its partnership with Teach Access, a nonprofit collaboration among education, industry and disability advocacy organizations with the goal to develop curriculum and materials in support of teaching accessibility fundamentals and to share these materials widely.
As a partner institution, Mount Union has committed to advancing the effort to address the critical need to enhance students’ understanding of digital accessibility as they learn to design, develop and build new technologies. In additional to curricular changes, Mount Union students will benefit from having access to opportunities that bring together students, faculty and industry partners to explore the field of accessibility.
Leading the charge for the partnership is Dr. Sarah J. Huibregtse, assistant professor of computer science at Mount Union, who has committed to volunteering to engage in monthly Teach Access all-member meetings, and has joined the Teach Access University Task Force.
Mount Union is the only partner institution in the state of Ohio and one of only 23 higher education partners across the country whose students will be able to foster these valuable connections.
