06 May Record Number of UD Flyers Set to Receive Degrees
Nearly 2,100 students will receive degrees in three separate virtual ceremonies this weekend. Combined with degrees granted in August and December, nearly 3,000 UD Flyers will earn degrees this academic year. Both marks eclipse records set last year.A projected 1,490 students will receive undergraduate degrees at noon Sunday, May 10. Nearly 500 students will receive graduate degrees at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, following the 11 a.m. ceremony to confer degrees for about 100 law school graduates. Each ceremony will be broadcast at the institution’s website. Diplomas will then be mailed to graduates.
The celebrations do not replace commencement exercises, but are an extra way to mark an important milestone in the lives of graduates. The University is planning a formal commencement ceremony to be held at a later date, once the current health crisis has passed and public health authorities allow large-scale gatherings.
